Geography textbooks are not only considered as a significant tool for geography teachers in organizing teaching activities, but also regarded as the major resources for students in learning geography. It is necessary to make a scientific analysis of geography textbooks, which is the prerequisite to making a rational use of textbooks, dealing with the relation between textbooks and teaching and realizing the teaching objectives and effective teaching. With the reform and development of the geography textbooks as well as the further development of the geographical science, students have more chances and channels to acquire knowledge, therefore the geographical textbooks need to keep pace with the times. When it comes to geography textbooks analysis, it includes the macro and micro aspects, and the former provides guidance for teaching and bears the overall situation in mind. Under the circumstance of the new curriculum reform, through comparing and analyzing the teaching design in each chapter, this thesis will try to analyze and explore the current situation, tendency and the existing problems in the macro analysis, to ultimately research and make the strategies used in the analysis.This thesis mainly consists of six parts.The first one is the introduction illustrating the research background and significance. On the basis of analyzing the research status both at home and abroad, the research programme and the main innovative points is put forward.The second one is an overview of the geography textbooks macro analysis. A definition is made by analyzing the related conceptions and the historical background of the geography textbooks macro analysis, analyzing the external and internal relations among geography textbooks. At the same time it illustrates the related learning theories and the geography textbook compilation theory.The third part centers on investigation on the current situation of geography textbook macro analysis. By means of material analytic analysis, this part will also explores the current situations and the existing problems in geography textbook macro analysis, analyzing the teaching design by the first-line teachers differing from province, years of teaching to the professional title.In the fourth part, it touches upon the principles and strategies of the geography textbook macro analysis. The corresponding principles puts forward in accordance with the existing problems. In addition, some more specific strategies is come up with combining the physical and mental development of students with new and further development in geographic science.In the fifth part, a basic conclusion is drawn and some prospects are made. In this part, it will summarizes the main points in the thesis and introspect the disadvantages as well. Finally, new thoughts and reflections for further research is made.
