The rapid development of information technology and multimedia technology broadens ourviews on acquiring knowledge. In digital age, how to take advantage of new technologies to supportnetwork learning has been an important topic in education field. Currently, most web-basedinstruction are designed for formal learning or informal learning, both of them have somedisadvantages. The former overemphasizes the role of teachers, ignoring learners· independence,and the latter asks too much for self-organizing capabilities without teachers· supervision. Thisthesis based on the concept of integrating formal learning and informal learning, proposes a mashupof cloud-based course platform and social media to build a new teaching system. In this system,cloud-based platform serves as formal learning environment to offer guidance of learning activities,and social media serves as informal learning environment to satisfy individual demand. With themashup mode, this system crosses the boundaries of formal learning and informal learning, andbecomes a more perfect and adaptive learning ecosystem.This thesis first systematically analyzes application status and theoretical foundation of onlinecourse platform, cloud computing and social media in the teaching domain, and summarizes theadvantages of cloud computing and social media applied for web-based teaching. Then the thesisexplores students· feelings and cognitive status of current online course platform and social media,analyzes the requirement of aggregating social media in online course platform, on this basis,designs a mashup mode and schema of cloud-based course platform and social media, and proposesappropriate instructional strategies. Finally, on the SAE, the thesis constructs the teaching system bydeveloping Wordpress secondarily, and achieves the mashup of cloud-based course platform andsocial media from content, multiple identity, sharing mechanism and Interactive comments, at thesame time, takes a teaching practice to research effects of actual application. This thesis intends toprovide a new way of integration of formal learning and informal learning by the mashup ofcloud-based course platform and social media, and to promote effective learning supports forweb-based teaching by new technology and new media.
