Concept And Practice Of University Holistic Education

Holistic education is a new trend of modern education development and a novel perspective of the higher education development. The idea of holistic education occurred between the60s and70s of the20th century, as to teach "whole knowledge" in order to form a "sound personality", so to promote humans as whole and comprehensive beings. The idea of holistic education is a reflection of the Marxism’s "person’s full scale development" and the scientific concept of development in modern China, which conforms with the current education development situation in China. With the advent of the era of knowledge economy and information technology, higher education in our country there is serious tendency of scientism,utilitarian, tools, and forms the phenomenon of education which is called "half a man". Therefore, the development of higher education wants to realize further reform and innovation, must establish its unique value pursuit. The talents training goal of colleges and universities is strengthening vocational, technical, at the same time the knowledge talented person should further strengthen humanistic quality education, promoting the comprehensive and harmonious development of college students, so as to adapt to the changes of economic and social development requirements.
