Background:Long-term desk work, improper sitting, the lack of scientific training and a series of other factors have caused many physical and mental health problems of the office people, who as a result get the prevalent problems on the neck, waist and so on. To strengthen exercise on neck, waist joints can not only improve the muscle stretching and flexibility of the neck and waist, extend the length of muscle fiber, increase muscle strength and make joint activities increases, but also avoid damage to the neck and waist, and lower the risk of the office people suffering from chronic diseases related to the neck and waist. The Big Dance of Qigong takes the spine as the center and is based on its dance movements. With its large range of motion, the dance allows the neck, waist and hip joint to be fully active and stretched, and also drives the arms and body to the full range of physical activities. This exercise can clear and regulate the body, improve blood running and joint function and increase muscle strength so as to clear the meridians, regulate internal organs and tract the body. Objectives:In this study, it takes the sedentary population among the modern female office crowd as experimental subjects, and selects the Big Dance of Qigong as exercise intervention for 16 weeks in order to observe fitness effects on the female office crowd’s limited activities of the neck joint and the waist joint. This paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of the Big Dance of Qigong’s function to provide an effective program for the female office groups who have occupational diseases. It also hopes to provide the theoretical basis for alleviating and preventing the long-term desk officer from occupational diseases. Methods:The study totally recruits 50 sedentary women copy writing workers, aged from 35 to 55 years old, by screening questionnaire to qualify the experimental subjects. Those subjects are randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group with 25 person in each group. With the Big Dance of Qigong as the experimental intervention, the experimental group is led to exercise by the coach three times a week and each exercise lasts for one hour with moderate intensity. The control group maintains a normal lifestyle and without any intervention. It observes and records data changes of six degrees of the neck and waist joint activity as well as the Sitting Reach both groups before and after the experiment, using SPSS17.0 statistical software for statistical analysis. Results:1. Before and after the Big Dance exercise intervention, it has a very significant difference in the data analysis of neck "backward extension", "left-handed" and "right-handed" and also of neck "left bend" and "right bend", but there is no obvious difference in "forward bend" activity of the neck joint.2. After the Big Dance exercise intervention for 16 weeks, the experimental group achieves a significant difference in data of the waist joint’s "forward bend", "backward extension" and "right-handed", and also of the "left bend", “right bend” and “left-handed”with significantly better than the control group on “the sitting reach”.3. In contrast to itself, the control group has a significant difference in the data of the neck joint’s “forward bend”, “left-handed” and “right-handed”, but no significant difference exists in the neck joint’s "backward extension", "left bend" and "right bend". As for “the sitting reach”, it shows a decrease.4. Comparing the neck joint’s motion of both two groups, the motion degree of “forward bend”, “left bend” and “right bend” is significantly different and so is the “backward extension”, “left-handed” and “right-handed”.5. After the experiment, it has a significant difference in the motion degree of the waist joint’s "forward bend", "backward extension" and “the sitting reach” of both groups and so is the “left bend”, “right bend”, “left-handed” as well as “right-handed”. Conclusions:1. The Big Dance of Qigong can effectively improve the motion degree of the neck joint’s five actions for the sedentary population among the female office crowd, namely, "backward extension", "left bend", "right bend," "left-handed" and "right-handed". However, this dance exercise has less extent and less action to perform static stretch for the neck’s “forward bend” activity. Hence, this activity can be adjusted according to their own need for action.2. The Big Dance of Qigong exercise has obvious effect on improving the activity of the waist joint’s “forward bend”, “backward extension”, “left bend”, “right bend”, “left-handed” and “right-handed” for the female office crowd. With muscles behind hip and back muscles stretched, it is obvious that as the waist’s “forward bend” improved, its sitting reach is in a significant improvement.3. With long-standing for the Big Dance exercise, and proper exercise according to the principles and form of exercise movements of the neck and waist joint, muscle groups will have a static traction. The dance training has a significant effect on improving the motion degree of the neck and waist joint so that it is suitable for the office crowd to take, who do a long-term desk work.
