Objective: This study we recruitment dance enthusiasts from Yangpu district, and give them a aerobic exercise plus strength training intervention. And then discussion the effects of promote the middle aged and elders women hand grip strength and functional fitness, through aerobic exercise and different strength training. Methods: We recruited 120 middle aged and elders women from Yangpu district Shanghai, and they must to do aerobic exercise. Everyone should done the basic conditions questionnaire, psychological questionnaire and PAR-Q questionnaire, through these questionnaires we can exclude sports contraindication. And then divided into hand grip group, dumbbell group and control group in random, the premise is that most of them are always aerobic exercise. The hand grip group and dumbbell group did their strength training, hand grip group should to do six parts of grab exercise, dumbbell group should do their dumbbell training, the subjects in two experiment groups exercised 3 times per week for a period of 12 weeks. The control group just did their aerobic exercise. Before and after exercises period, we test all women hand grip strength, weight, functional fitness and so on.Results: After exercises period, the hand grip group grip strength had improved significantly(P<0.001), although dumbbell group had no significant difference in the grip strength, but it had a improving trend, the control group without differentiation. There is a significant difference in the difference value of the grip strength between hand grip group and control group(P<0.001), and it also had a difference in the dumbbell group(P<0.05). The functional fitness testing, after 12 weeks of exercise intervention, there is a significant difference(P<0.001) in the arm curl among hand grip group, dumbbell group and control group. And there is no significant in the difference value of the arm curl among the three groups. On the 30-second chair stand result, hand grip group and dumbbell had a great improved before the intervention(P<0.01), in addition, the dumbbell group was significantly increased than before(P<0.001). But there is no significant in the difference value of the 30-second chair stand among the three group. There was no significant difference in the back scratch measurement in intervention before and end about dumbbell group and control group, but the hand grip group had a significantly increased(P<0.001). And there is no significant in the difference value of the back scratch among the three groups. After training, only the hand grip group showed significant improvements(P < 0.001) in chair sit-and-reach, the dumbbell group had a improvements trend, but no difference than before. The control group also had no difference. There is a significant difference in the difference valueof the chair sit-and-reach between hand grip group and control group(P<0.05). On the 2-minute step-in-place index measurements, hand grip group and dumbbell had a great improved before the intervention(P<0.001), and the control group also had a significant difference(P<0.05). Analysis shows that before and after the intervention among the three groups, there was a significantly difference between dumbbell group and control group(P<0.001), and there was also a significant difference(P<0.05) between dumbbell group and hand grip group, hand grip group and control group. After 12 weeks intervention, the dumbbell group had a great significant improvements(P < 0.001) in 8-foot up-and-go, the hand grip group also shows significant difference(P<0.01), and the control group had no difference. Analysis shows that before and after the intervention among the three groups, there was a significant difference between dumbbell group and control group(P<0.05). After multiple comparisons showed between the intervention group: three groups of functional fitness in no difference before the intervention, after the intervention, there was a significant difference in the 30-second chair stand among dumbbell group and hand grip group, control group. After intervention, dumbbell group had a great significantly difference than control group in the arm curl, and there was also a difference between hand grip group and control. Significantly difference in the 2-minute step-in-place between the dumbbell group and control group, and also had a significant difference between hand grip group and control. There was no significant difference in the back scratch in three groups. After training, only the hand grip group and control group showed significant difference in the chair sit-and-reach, and there was a significant difference in the 8-foot up-and-go between dumbbell group and control group. Conclusion: After 12 weeks of exercise intervention, the aerobic exercise and strength training can enhance the middle aged and elders women hand grip strength and improve their functional fitness. Although simple aerobic exercise can improve parts of functional fitness index, but the important point is aerobic exercise plus strength training was more benefit for health than only to do aerobic exercise.
