Image is the soul of poetry and a necessary accomplishment in classical poetry appreciation. It is one of the important ways to understand the connotation of classical poetry, and accurately understanding of it is helpful for students to understand the thoughts and feelings of classical poetry. At present, the researches on the image are rich and comprehensive, but the researches on the application of the image to teaching are not enough or systematic. There exist many problems in the appreciation of classical poetry in high school Chinese teaching. Teachers generally do not attach importance to the image teaching, and do not pay attention to guide students to understand and grasp the image of the connotation, characteristics instead of a simple memory. What’s worse, they do not pay attention to analyzing the relation between the image and the poet emotion. The wrong way of teaching separates the relation between image, artistic conception and emotion, which directly causes students to have trouble learning and appreciating classical poetry and even make students lose interest in classical poetry. In order to change the status quo of appreciation of classical poetry, according to the features of the image and the psychological characteristics of the students teaching strategies of the image of classical poetry in high school are proposed based on the methods of literature. The common teaching methods are demonstrated according to the relevant teaching theory, "the new curriculum standards", people’s education version of the textbook and the college entrance examination syllabus. It is hoped that this research can not only be of help to Chinese teachers, but also help students improve the ability to appreciate classical poetry. It will be better if the research is helpful for the implementation of the new curriculum.This thesis is divided into four chapters; the main contents are as follows:The first chapter mainly analyzes the characteristics of imagery in classical poetry, the current situation of psychological characteristics of high school students learning the classical poetry and the current teaching.In the second chapter, the teaching strategies are put forward from the above three aspects, and the aesthetic characteristics, the image of the special significance and relationship with the poet’s emotion are focused on.In the third chapter, the teaching strategies were demonstrated in terms of the Chinese teaching theory, curriculum standards, teaching version of the textbook, college entrance examination syllabus and current research.The fourth chapter mainly introduces the specific implementation of the project teaching strategies and four teaching methods are demonstrated.
