Since the establishment of China and South Korea diplomatic relations in 1992, Chinese teaching has become popular. These years Chinese teaching has made a great progress. At the same time, it has become the most popular second foreign language. However, there is still a big gap compared with English teaching. There is a quite long history for the promotion of English, and English is the most popular foreign language in reality as well in name. So the success in the promotion of English is a good example.Jesan elementary school is one of the best primary schools in Geoje City, GyeonngSangnamdo, South Korea. This elementary school has reached the same teaching-leading level. Making an investigation of the school, we’ll know better about the teaching conditions of primary schools in South Korea.Student, teacher, textbook, teaching method and assessment are the five factors of teaching, which have a great influence on teaching levels. And therefore this thesis studies the Chinese curriculum, Chinese learners, Chinese teachers, Chinese textbooks, Chinese assessment, Chinese activities, and the analysis of comparison with English teaching, so that we are able to find out the shortcomings of Chinese teaching in Jesan elementary school.The time of Chinese curriculum is only 16%-25% of English curriculum. the proportion of Chinese teachers and English teachers is 1:10. Compared with the English textbook, the Chinese textbook is not interesting and systematic. And the Chinese assessment is not comprehensive, there is no standard Chinese test. Meanwhile, the Chinese activities lack of diversity.In practical investigation, I collected data about Chinese teaching and English teaching in Jesan elementary school. Taking Jesan elementary school as an example, we are able to know the reality of the craze for Chinese language from the exact data. So that we will get glimpses of Chinese teaching in South Korea. And we can take steps to popularize Chinese. In the analysis of comparison of Chinese teaching and English teaching, we can see the obvious gap of them and the room to develop in Chinese teaching.
