General Technology is born as a new program in our new curriculum reform, which is a compulsory course for high school students to foster technological literacy of students, reflecting the advanced technology and culture. General Technology is lack of professional teachers. Courses are usually granted by a generation of teachers on behalf of other subjects, who are lack of the teaching experience of the technical course, relying on the teaching material in class. Accordingly, teaching material serves as a vital role in the General Technology teaching. General Technology curriculum emphasizes on the technology practice. Case teaching techniques are widely used in the technology class, and the case in the teaching material is the prior choice for teachers to teach knowledge. Therefore, case study of General Technology is very significant in promoting General Technology curriculum quality construction, and pushing the deepening of curriculum reform process.In this study, content analysis, document analysis and case analysis are the major research technique. According to the latest progress of’case analysis of General Technology material’, the relevant research literature review is made, and the definition of General Technology, case and other related concepts is made. Cases in two General Technology teaching material "Technology and Design 1" and "Technology and Design 2" which are published by the Jiangsu Education Publishing House, are used as the research object. Cases in the teaching material are analyzed from four dimensions, which are the case of time, space, the purpose and the presentation. Through analysis of the results of the research, it is revealed that the case in the teaching material exists the problems of the real life derailed, and lacking of forward-looking, interesting, classic and practical issues. For the corresponding problem, suggestion on optimization is proposed that the selection and preparation of case should be close to life, illustrated, reflect the times and focus on practical ability. It is hoped to provide practical reference to the frontline general technology teachers, provide a reference for the smooth progress of the implementation of general technology curriculum, and promote deepening of the new curriculum reform.
