Grammar is an important part of English language system. It serves as a tool to produce and analyze natural languages, and a criterion to examine the correctness of their phrases or sentences as well. Grammar teaching is an important part of English teaching, and it affects the development of language skills including listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation.The thesis starts with a literature review of the English grammar teaching, including the definition and scope of grammar in English teaching, the importance of grammar teaching, the principles of grammar teaching, and the approaches of grammar teaching, and then goes to the overview of Construction Grammar theory both abroad and at home. It is followed by an analysis of the basic concepts of Construction Grammar, and the views of Construction Grammar on the form and meaning of the construction, second language acquisition. On the practical level, a questionnaire is designed to investigate the attitudes towards and understanding of students on English grammar teaching at high school from the perspective of Construction Grammar and an experimental teaching based on the related teaching methods is conducted. The present study is conducted based on the analysis of the results of pre-test and post-test of the questionnaire to show the great effect of grammar teaching from the perspective of Construction Grammar.Based on the empirical research of survey research, and analyses of experimental data and results by SPSS, the author reaches the following conclusions. Firstly, the traditional English grammar teaching cannot help students learn grammar effectively. Secondly, the teaching methods from the perspective of Construction Grammar can overcome problems students face, and improve the efficiency of English grammar teaching. Thirdly, teachers should change their roles in teaching, and make their teaching become student-centered and discovery-entailed. Teachers should also shift from teaching grammar with excessive emphasis on the correctness of language forms to communicative teaching, and stress the importance of language meaning and the communicative nature of language.
