Study On Family Therapy About Adolescent Drug Abuse

Nowadays, adolescent drug abuse has been a social problem which can not be neglected. Meanwhile, the adolescent drug users tend to be lower in age and education background. There’re various reasons that lead to these drug users, such as individual psychology, peer influences and social factors. However, from the standpoint of social system, family factors usually take a fundamental rule in teenager substance users. Since family therapy is thought that individual problems have deep relationship with one’s family environment, the methods of therapies always start from the family of clients. With professional social work measures, social workers modulate clients’ family structures and subsystems to improve their family communication and function. Through series of operations, the solvation of individual problem will be enhanced eventually. This article analysis both the circumstances of adolescent drug users and feasibilities of family therapy of these situations, and combine these theories into practice. During the process of therapy,the social worker led the family members into the action, and united three different measures—Structural Family Therapy, Conjoint Family Therapy and Brief Strategic Family Therapy. Structural Family Therapy is mainly about to regulate the client’s family structure, and the Satir Family Reconstruction uses throughout the communication among family members. The last method is used to expose the family problems, and the social worker need to put forward corresponding countermeasures. The last but not the least, this article makes an assessment and introspection about the case above, including the drawbacks of the therapy process and the localization of family therapy. The social worker also discusses the creative steps of family therapy to expect that this method can develop better one day in China.
