The Study Of Social Support In Virtual Community Networks

Social support has attracted more than enough attention from sociology and psychology studies, with the acceleration of network development, social support in Virtual Community networks affected by the media and new areas of communication shows its own unique characteristics in the direction of communication studies. During the observation of Baidu Post Bar in the past two years, the paper tried to analyze different appearance of each kind of users in providing social support. In this paper, the following critical issues were systematically studied.Based on the public spaces provided by network, the article explain the born grassroots property of Hepatitis B Baidu Post Bar; secondly, Hepatitis B Bar has a group of special users, they are a vulnerable group in need of social support, in the post Bar, the group provides social support for themselves, which is very different from the traditional social support; And finally, the paper also introduces the particularity of hepatitis B disease and the social awareness of hepatitis B disease.The Network Social Support provided by Hepatitis B Post Bar contents Information support, Emotional support, Esteem support, Tangible assistance support and Companions support. After the statistics and analysis of these five kinds of network social support, the paper obtained the proportion and the characteristics of each social support. Meanwhile, considering the special characteristics of Hepatitis B Post Bar, the paper carried out a detailed analysis of the five categories of Network Social Support’s proportions and characteristics.The paper also makes a in-depth study in the difference of social support provided by different gender. In Hepatitis B Bar, the five kinds of Network Social Support and their corresponding sub-category provided by male and female show out their own proportion and characteristic. The paper counted these performance, analysis the different gender’s influence on Network Social Support provided.Finally, the paper also studied the different tendencies of Hepatitis B Bar in different levels of users in a network of social support. A detailed comparison among the performance of the novice, intermediate and advanced users in all types of information support and its sub-categories and corresponding manifestations.These statistical research the following conclusions:the Network Social Support provided in Hepatitis B Post Bar, Information support accounted for the largest proportion, followed by Emotional support, and compared with other studies, the proportion of tangible assistance increased; Female’s performance in the Network Social Support are more inclined to offer emotional support, while male tend to provide information support, but in the bar more male self-disclosure were taken out, this performance and the real world are quite different; In the study of different levels users’ performance, the Intermediate users posted it the main force of Network Social Support, and intermediate user performance companions support more obvious; Finally, according to the results, the study analyzed the social support condition of hepatitis b, and the resulting thinking on the reason of the reality.
