Research On Story-telling Map Visualization Technique

With the development of geographic information industry in recent years,GIS is coming into every aspect of our lives.To engage more people with GIS, we should focus on the flexibility.This means not only to finish those routine work,but also to expand and change those basic application, make those basic application more flexible by using the familiar with the work flow tools.Map is now becoming a new media to tell a story which concludes both location data and your personal experience.In this way,it can be easy to understand and remember the narrative advantages reflected,but also to extension the map and GIS to a wider crowd.This paper refers the domestic and foreign documents on the method based on story-telling visualization technology and describes the principle of story-telling visualization technology and the related theoretical model construction.This paper also analysis of the selection and research to explore the narrative scene. Based on the theory of technology,this paper discusses analysis combined with the map and story-telling methods and explains the narrative way of the model in examples. As the breakthrough point of the tourism information system,this paper has worked out a design plan of travel stories of the map,including the page style,layout,system function and display effect of the travel story.And also this paper has developed information query,map operation,narrative and assistant planning function travel story map.With the use of HTML and CSS developing the webpage frame layout and display effect and the use of Javascript to realize the related functions of webpage and map, this paper represents author's tour to Golden Beach, which is a very good example of combining one's own story with location data.Travel story map not only realized the traditional tourist map of the scenic spots information query, map navigation, panoramic view of the basic function and more user-friendly computing play time, route guidance,distance measurement and other travel plans of auxiliary functions, but also achieved about the author's own travel records, and on this basis to provide users with different interests hobby tourism route suggestion.The story-telling mode offers a new way of visualization research. This new feature extends the use of GIS in analyzing, planning and decision making support, thus makes it more acceptable by more users.
