Polarization holography is based on conventional holography, besides the am plitudes and phases of signal and reference waves are recorded in an interf erence pattern, the polarizations of two waves also can be recorded. In order to realize polarization holography, polarization-sensitive materials are used to record amplitudes, phases and po larizations, simultaneously.Polarization holography is mainly focused on the variation of polarizations. In the last century, the polarization holography has been developed for som e time. However, the theories used by the scientists are not entir ely suitable for polarization holography, which leads to a too complex description of the reconstructed waves. Moreover, these theories of polarization holography worked only when we assume the signal wave and reference wave propagate almost in p arallel. In the last few years, a n ew tensor theory of polarization holography was proposed, which broke the lim it of the angle between two wave s. This theory is based on the photoinduced change of the dielectric tensor of the polarizationsensitive materials, it is expressed as a function of the electric field in a general form. The recording and reconstruction process are desc ribed with the coupled wave theory and Maxwell's equations, and then the polarization state of the reconstructed wave is deduced. In this paper, the characteristics of the recording and reconstruction of the polarization holography are studied on the basi s of the tensor theory, a nd the characteristics of the reconstruction of the polarization ho lography using the circularly polarized wave will also be analyzed. Through the analysis, it is found that the reconstruction wave is disappeared at some point when we use the orthogonal refe rence wave to rec onstruct, and this phenomenon is nam ed null reconstruction. This thesis focuses on the root cause of null reconstruction. Firstly, in th e theoretical analysis pro cess, the reading wave is simultaneously decomposed into two linear po larized components, so two reconstructed waves are obtained. Then the phase difference between the same polarization components of reconstructed waves can be analyzed. Co mbined with the m ethod of interference, a specific experimental scheme was designed to measure the phase difference. And the experiment shows that theoretical analysis result is consistent with the experimental result. So the reason of null reconstruction can get a reasonable explanation.
