The advance of location-sensor technology has enabled us to record locations of moving objects with a sequence of time-stamped trajectory data. The trajectory data can be potentially used in many applications such as travel navigation, object activity analysis and to build a spatio-temporal map. Unfortunately, the performance of existing systems cannot satisfy the need of online interaction. More importantly, the performance becomes really poor on large scale moving objects trajectory data set. In order to promote the spatio-temporal interactive effect for online systems, especially in Web environment, we have integrated a set of techniques for efficiently storing and online mapping large scale moving objects trajectory data and developed a Web-based system based on high performance Geographic Information Platform. The main work can be concluded as following:1. Summed up the sources of measuring error of GPS observation data, divided the error into 4 categories: Redundancy; Lost; High Drift; Low Drift. In order to avoid the confused with each other, a set of pre-processing techniques is integrated, and stay point detection is one of the key.2. The concept of Whole Trajectory is proposed, based on this concept, a large-scale moving objects storage model for Web environment is designed. In order to solve the influence of high concurrent access, Distributed Data Base System is used to storage the moving objects trajectory data.3. Compared the existing visualization technology of moving objects' trajectory, designed a ST-Cube model to express the trajectory. Proposed a tile oriented ST-Cube aggregation method. Experiments show that the approach with ST-Cube can greatly compress the mapping data volume and make the interaction of dynamic spatio-temporal map more friendly.4. A High performance GIS called HiGIS is presented. A HiGIS-based moving objects retrieval service prototype system is demonstrate, which indicated all key technologies discussed in this dissertation is correct and effective.
