As an important type of unconventional oil and gas resources, the density, species, laboratory items and evaluation methods of samples in conventional geochemical studies have been difficult to meet the needs of fine oil research. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the resource potential of tight oil on the basis of improving the geochemical research methods, and to provide the basis for the optimization of the advantageous area. In this paper, a new experimental method has been developed by enlarging sample density. Based on the new and old evaluation parameters, the organic matter abundance, type and thermal evolution conditions of the hydrocarbon source rocks in the tight oil region were evaluated. According to the relationship between source, reservoir and reservoir, the resource structure is determined, and the calculation method of source-reservoir and dense oil is established, and the resource potential of the research area is evaluated by means of a variety of resource calculation methods. The results show that the source rocks of the ES3 tight oil section in the beam-deer sag are well developed, the hydrocarbon sources have a good distribution, high organic matter abundance, good type, high thermal evolution degree and strong hydrocarbon expulsion ability. In the tight oil zone, the oil-gas property is good, the resources are high and the exploration potentiality is great. The total hydrocarbon content of the dense oil in the three sections of the Shahejie SAG reaches 800 million tons and the resource is 230 million tons. All the lithologic tight oil resources of each oil group are distributed in the advantageous zone.
