The symbiotic deposition of the gypsum-salt layer and hydrocarbonsourcerock s of is widely existedin the west of Qaidam Basin,Tertiary. It is very important for exploration to understand the effect of salinization on the accumulation of organic matter, that is which stage of the formation of high-quality source roc ks in the process of salinization. It isimportant to explore the distribution of hy drocarbon-rich sag thatrecognizing the relationship between the gypsum-salt laye r and hydrocarbonsourcerocks in the transverse distribution and longitudinal con tact.By analysing of predecessor research, with the help of synthesis using many modern analysis and test technologies, including the identification of rock slic e,scanning electron microscope, logging explanation and energy spectrum analys is,the petrology and geochemistry characteristics of gypsum-salt layer and hydr ocarbon source rocks has been particular researched and discussed its attribute. The gypsum we have found in the outcrop of Qaidam Basin,Tertiary, belong to the secondary salt minerals, which has indicative significance for sedimenta ry environments. The graphic distribution maps show the depositional relationsh ip between the gypsum-salt layer and hydrocarbonsourcerocks.Synthesis analysis believed that the gypsum-salt layer and hydrocarbonsourcer ocks' sedimentary range isapproximately equal,in the west of Qaidam Basin,Te rtiary.Gypsum-salt rock and hydrocarbon source rock distribution in southweste rn Qaidam Basin Center, controlled by the depression;gypsum-salt rock and hy drocarbon source rock in direct contact on the longitudinal profile, often charac terized by frequent interbedded;with the increase of degree of salt, their impac t on the quality of hydrocarbon source rock performance for "promoting first a nd then inhibit" rule.
