Ordos Basin located between active zone in the western and stable zone in the eastern,in the geohistory of Archean to Cenozoic, tectonic evolution undergone six stages. In the late Paleozoic it has experienced the stages of tectonic evolution of shore shallow basin and the North China inland basin,in these stages there developed a large amount of delta, tidal and fluvial, sandstone has good properties so it can provide a better condition for the reservoir. In this study, based on previous studies,by full use the means of fieldwork, drilling, sample test and paleontological data, use the theories of application sedimentology and sedimentary facies analysis etc,to research the main sedimentary features of the basin, deep and effective reservoir-cap space-time configuration relations, the control of tectonic system to sedimentary facies and the relationship between sedimentary system features and reservoir distribution, the main results are as follows:(1)tectonic evolutionAccording to the information gathered from previous studies, drawn the main controlling factors and evolutionary characteristics of Ordos basin in early and late period of Late Paleozoic.(2)deposition system, sedimentary facies analysisStudy the Upper Paleozoic in Ordos region, according to the characteristics of seismic facies of?logging curve shape?core fine description and characteristics of the process of deposition, coupled with paleo-tectonic control over deposition, analyze depositional systems and sedimentary facies characteristics.(3)favorable reservoir-capTake use of stratum properties and its relationship with the depositional system?sedimentary facies,to predict reservoir distribution and combination of reservoir.(4)evaluate favorable reservoir formationConsider the relationship of source reservoir caprock assemblage of the Ordos Basin and hydrocarbons' aggregation and dispersion, use the features of sedimentary systems and stratum properties,to ecaluate favorable oil and gas reservoir.
