The study of the lunar morphology has been one of the key tasks of the lunar ex-ploration program in recent decades. The crater as the most typical landform and the most basic form of the lunar surface has also been the hotspot . The correct design of the impact pits will be applied to the description of the characteristics of the crater, which can provide direct evidence for the study of the present situation and evolution history of the moon. At the same time, the design and expression of the crater index can also provide rich information for the study of impact extraction and identification, the formation mechanism, impact effects of the craters and so on. To a certain extent, its research level can be used as a flag of success or failure of lunar exploration.Although the existing classification scheme achieved abundant results, Because of the old age, and the complexity of the crater morphology, the diversity of the type and the constraints of the experimental methods and data, the current research mainly focus on the description of the crater shape, it is lack of expression about more de-tailed features of the pit inside and outside. Furthermore, the current standards are not uniform on the index system of crater morphology. In practical application, cognition and description of the characteristics of craters is dependent on individual subjective experience heavily. In addition, how to express the indicators in a structured way, es-tablish a unified standard, further research of the crater remain to be resolved. The paper comes from the National Natural Science Foundation of the pro ject , based on the description of the morphological features, this paper uses t he DEM data and multi-source remote sensing data, geological maps and photo s at home and abroad to analyze the morphological characteristics and spatial s tr-ucture of the craters. This paper defines a single crater as a simple impact c ra-ter, the number of two or more with a certain spatial relationship between t he impact crater as a combination crater. in this paper, the index system is bas-ed on the simple, and the combination craters come from a different relations h-ip between the formation of the simple crater, so the study of simple crater la-y the foundation for the crater characteristics of the description.1.The basic chara-cteristics of the impact of the pit, including the basic co-mponents of the crate-r, crater rim crest, crater wall, crater floor, the central p-eak, sputtering and ot-her elements of a single impact pit description indicator,as well as spatial distribution of morphological characteristics, statistical cha-ra cteristics Group impact crater indicators.2.And the descriptive index system of the characteristics of crater is establ-ished. Based on the design concept of Geospatial Data Metadata Content Stan-dard (CSDGM) v2.0, the specification of impoundment index data expression s-pecification is formed, and an expression method of informationization data ba-sed on impact pit index is developed.3.Finally, comparisons are made among the morphological indexes of crate-r pits, the applicability and validity of these indexes which are used to descry-be the characteristics of craters. Ac-cording to experimental results, it shows t-hat the method can well meet the pr-evious research theory, describe the basic morphological features of the crater e-ffectively, and express the morphological characteristics of the crater accurately. In the paper, the method presented is based on "DEM" and capable of identify-ing the crater correctly, it will deepen understanding about the lunar morphology.Meanwhile, it is of great significance to study the lunar rock structure, estimate the age of the moon, the correction of the soft landing site of the detector, the inversion of the lunar soil thickness, the restoration of the origin of the moon and the evolution history.
