As a main energy source in China, coal plays an important role in national economy and social development. With the continuous exploitation of coal mines, ecological environmental problems have emerged accordingly.wherein, the destruction of groundwater resources is the most serious.Shanxi, which is a coal province, has been plagued by groundwater problems.Coal mine exploitation has a dynamic and persistent influence on groundwater. What's more, its impact on groundwater level, quantity and quality is not negligible.Coal mine exploitation breaks the aquifer and the equilibrium among groundwater recharge, runoff and drainage, changes groundwater circulation and makes the groundwater system increasingly complicated. The effluent from the mining will also have an effect on the groundwater aquifer within a certain range of the mine. Therefore,it is of great significance to analyze the groundwater environment in mining areas, master its dynamic changes and present effective approaches to protect the groundwater environment and develop mining areas in Shanxi sustainably. This paper takes Gujiao Mine Area in Shanxi as the study area and combines actual hydrogeological conditions of the mining area with monitoring data on groundwater quantity and levels to evaluate and analyze the present situation of the groundwater environment. The numerical model of groundwater is established to simulate and analyze dynamic changes of groundwater in the mining area.Based on the observation data of a hydrological year from November 25,2014 to September 28,2015,the author simulates and predicts groundwater levels of the mining area 5 years,15 years and 30 years after coal mine exploitation respectively. The results show: 1.A groundwater descend funnel will appear after five years of coal mine exploitation. The groundwater level drop in the study area will affect the level of groundwater in the radius of 2km.2.After 15 years of mining, the funnel will be larger. The groundwater level will drop by 10 m and affectthe level of groundwater in the radius of 3.2km.3.After 30 years, the funnel will be further expanded. The center groundwater level will drop by 30-40 m and affect the groundwater level within the radius of 9.8km.Finally,the author establishes corresponding models of solute transport and simulates contaminant transport in the next 5 years,15 years and 30 years.According to the simulation results, the pollution is aggravating and the pollution range is increasing with the time.
