Rana dybowskii is an important group in amphibious. They have a strong ability of regulating body temperature and adapting to low temperature due to the cold weather in their habitat. They are the main objects of the thermal biology and evolutionary biology researches. We studied the aspect of temperature ecology in different geographic populations of Rana dybowskii under the controlled laboratory conditions. We have analyzed the influence of ambient temperature on body temperature, embryonic development and selected body temperature of three groups. We explore the relationship between thermoregulation ability and ambient temperature of Rana dybowskii,so as to provide a scientific basis for further understanding on intraspecific relationships of Rana dybowskii, the mechanism of thermoregulation and the adaptability to the ambient temperature. The main contents of this study include several aspects: the research on thermoregulation ability of different geographic populations, the comparison of the embryonic development speed of different geographic populations, the selected body temperature and the critical thermal maximum lethal temperature of different geographic populations. The main researches result in the following aspects:1.No matter male or female, body temperature and ambient temperature were positively correlated in three geographic populations. The physiological thermoregulation ability from strong to weak are Shangzhi population,Yichun population and Baishan population which were shown in this order.2.The embryonic development time of different geographic populations was different at the same temperature. It shows that Shangzhi population use the shortest time,Baishan population second, and Yichun population is the longest one.3.The selected body temperature of Rana dybowskii has geographical variation. It shows that Shangzhi population has the highest selected body temperature,Baishan population second, and Yichun population is the lowest one.The selected body temperature of tadpoles was gradually increased with the development of embryo.Itshows that the 46 stage has the highest selected body temperature, the 41 stage second, and the 21 stage is the lowest one.4.There are significant geographical variation in lethal thermal maximum temperature of tadpoles.Influenced by the ambient temperature of embryo development, the population which from the higher ambient temperature has the higher selected body temperature and lethal thermal maximum temperature. With the development of embryo, the lethal thermal maximum temperature of tadpoles increased gradually.
