The Attenuation of noise is quite an important section in seismic data processing. If the noise has not been suppressed well,it will have a bad influence on the recognizing of the reflection events from the pre-stack seismic profiles. Then, the noise will affect a series of processes and reduce the quality of stack profiles, even the interpretation of geological structure.Surface diffraction is a kind of common noise in marine surveys and it is usually troublesome. In allusion to this kind of noise, this paper presents a method combined by diffractors scanning and mathematical morphology filtering. This method use the characteristic of mathematical morphology in attenuating coherent noise to suppress the surface diffraction with the least harm to the reflection events.Firstly, this paper expounds the basic theory of mathematical morphology.Simply analyzes the influence caused by the difference between structural elements.Secondly, introduces the application of mathematical morphology in attenuating surface diffraction noise in marine surveys. Finally, comes up with the idea of combing the mesh scanning and mathematical morphology to remove the diffraction noise.Explains the flows of this method and evaluates the result of it.In this paper,C is used to accomplish the new method which is based on diffractors scanning and mathematical morphology. Then, the method is transplanted to GeoEast which is developed by BGP,generating the module autoDSCAN.A field data is used to verify the effectiveness of this method. Finally,it gets a tangible result.
