Phrynocephalus przewalskii and Phrynocephalus versicolor belong to the Squamta,Reptlia,Agamidae,Phrynocephalus. They are widely distributed in the central and western of Inner Mongolia,Ningxia,Gansu,Xinjiang and other northwestern provinces of China. The study site is located between in Inner Mongolia Alashan League Alashan Zuoqi Tengger Desert and Inner Mongolia Helan Mountain National Nature Reserve.Based on the study of the diets of the Phrynocephalus przewalskii and the Phrynocephalus versicolor,we studied and compared seasonal diets of the two species, and supplemented and perfected ecological data of some sand lizards. The results as followed:There are 2 classes,7 orders,24 families of insects in the stomach of Phrynocephalus przewalskii. Two classes,9 orders,27 families of insects were checked in the stomach of Phrynocephalus versicolor. The diets of Phrynocephalus przewalskii and Phrynocephalus versicolor are similar(overlapping 19 families in spring, which wree the highest of the whole year, overlapping 11 subjects in summer, overlapping 15 families in fall). There are seasonal differences in the diets of Phrynocephalus przewalskii. In spring,Formicidae and Carabidae were composed 13.73% and 18.95% of the total plant species. In summer.Formicidae was accounting for 27.78% and 15.56% of the total food composition respectively. In fall,19.83% of the total food species was Formicidae, and the other preys for lizards were Coccinellidae and Aphididae,13.79% and 12.07% respectively. The diet similarity between the sexes was high(90.89%),indicating that there was competition between the sexes of Phrynocephalus przewalskii. The H value(1.59)of the males was bigger than that of the females(1.54),indicating that the male diets had more species than female. The B value of the male lizard(1.94)was less than that of the female lizard(2.72),indicating that niche of the males is smaller than the females. The percentage of food similarity PS(89.44%)and the PD value(10.56%)of Phrynocephalus przewalskii indicated that the diet similarity between the age classes was high. The H value(2.20)and B value(2.09)of the adult lizards were higher than those of the young lizard(1.99)and B(1.95),indicating that the adult fecundity was the high.Formicidae,Carabidae,Chrysomelidae were composed 31.13%,13.21% and 10.38% of the total food in Phrynocephalus versicolor during spring, the Formicidae,Ichneumonidae,Carabidae and Chrysomelidae accounted for 26.87%,13.43%,13.43% and 13.43% of the total food composition respectively. In fall,Formicidae,Ichneumonidae and Curculionidae were the main preys of Phrynocephalus versicolor.Formicidae,Ichneumonidae and Coocinellidae were the main preys, accounting for 23.64%,10.00% and 11.82% of the total food composition. The values of similarity PS(89.82%)and O(0.96)were high, and the values of PD(10.18%)and S(0.04)were low, accounting for high diets similarity between sexes.Males and females exist competition for food between sexes. The H value(1.99)and the B value(1.64)of the male Phrynocephalus versicolor were less than the H value(2.23)and the B value(2.00)of the female, indicating the food range of the male lizard was less than that of the female lizard. The percentage of food similarity PS(89.97%)was high, and the PD value(10.03%)was low.The food similarity between age classes was high, indicating that there was food competition between the two age classes. The H value(1.82)and the B value(1.83)of the adult lizard were all higher than those of the young lizard(1.77)and the B value(1.79),indicating that the adult fecundity was the most abundant. There was no significant difference between Phrynocephalus przewalskii and Phrynocephalus versicolor in spring(P = 0.454),in summer(P=0.585),and in fall(P = 0.786).There were no significant differences in the sex of the two lizards. The diet similarity was higher(spring diet similarity 73.01%,summer diet similarity 86.79%,autumn diet similarity 86.42%),So the two kinds of sand lizard there is obvious diet competition.
