Rare earth oxides are widely used in semiconductor materials,senior pigmentt and photosensitive glass sensitizer and automobile exhaust purifiers.The calcination process has several shortcomings,including discountinunous,uneven heating,slow reaction speed,large labor intensity and high energy consumption per unit product.On the basis of the literature and the experience of other industry production practice,for gansu rare earth company original calcination cerium oxide cerium carbonate process,this study intends to design a new type of calcining process.,heat transfer process,shorten thesintering time, reducing energy consumption and improving labor productivity,realize the continuous production.This design selected multiple hearth furnace direct continuous calcination,the basic experiment of calcinating rare earth carbonate, material and heat balance calculation of calcinating furnace multi chamber,the size and structure determination of the chamber,at the same time,selection of auxiliary equipment for calcining process,we do the following research work:1.We also finished thermal analysis test of cerium carbonate, measurement of cerium oxide density, particle size and the final product properties under different temperatures after calcination. Through the research work, we can draw the following conclusion:under 800 ?,60 min can complete dehydration and decomposition,calcining cerium oxide density increased with the increase of calcination temperature,after calcination at different temperatures of cerium carbonate material particle size distribution in main 0.5~140?m,Provide design parameters for the furnace design;2.Based on material and heat balance calculation of multiple hearth furnace,analysis of the distribution of materials to multiple hearth furnace and heat;The multiple hearth furnace should consist of 8 layers, each layer of 900 mm in height,inner diameter of 2640 mm, outer diameter is 3080 mm.We chose DMC-20 as bag type dust collector of auxiliary device, powder and granular solid material heat exchanger considering the components of flue gas, the characteristic of the product.3.The typical section of multiple hearth furnace numerical simulation to guide the design,the speed, pressure and temperature conditions in the multiple hearth furnace are simulated The distribution results met our expectation very well.This study thus laid a foundation for the industrial test for further researches,energy efficiency of rare earth carbonate calcination equipment industry has a certain reference value.
