One-dimensional continuous nanofiber membranes by electrospinning have high specific surface area and porosity. It functions as excellent supporter, which reduces the mass transfer resistance due to its large interconnected pore size and facilitates the recovery in practical application. Polyamidoamine(PAMAM) is a class of dendrimers, which has a special molecular structure. There are a large number of functional groups on the outer surface of molecules, so it has been widely used in nano-materials, catalysts and wastewater treatment. The PAN/PAMAM nanofiber membranes were prepared by electrospinning, then investigated the effects of different factors on the morphology of the fibers. Based on this, used the composite nanofiber membranes as adsorbent to investigate the adsorption capacity of methyl orange.Firstly, investigated the different quality of PAN/PAMAM on the electrospinning process. The results revealed that with the increase of PAMAM content, the spinning solution viscosity decrease, the nanofiber average diameter decreased, and the soluble fiber to each other emerged, then the surface area also decreased. Also, investigated the effect of roller speed on the average diameter of nanofibers. It revealed that the average diameter was 375nm at 200rpm, then the average diameter decreased to 166nm at 300rpm. The average diameter decreased but not significantly with the increasing speed. Then used the composite nanofiber membranes as adsorbents, methyl orange simulated dye wastewater, investigated the effects of some factors on adsorption of methyl orange by nanofiber membranes, including the time、pH and initial concentration. The results revealed that the nanofiber membranes has a fast adsorption rate of methyl orange at acidic conditions. Dye adsorption kinetic by composites nanofibers fitted to conform to pseudo-second order kinetics, and dye adsorption followed by Langmuir isotherm. Meanwhile, the composite nanofiber membranes still had a good adsorption effect on methyl orange after multiple adsorption.
