The high flame retardant efficiency and the low toxicity of the intumescent flame retardant was characterized.The smoke of the flame retardant was suppressed.lt is in line with the trend of the environment protection. In this study, caged phosphate flame retardant was synthesized with trimethylolpropane and trimethyl phosphite, and in order to improve the yield of product, the molar ratio of the reacant as well as the temperature, time, atmosphere of the synthesis process were optimized. Meanwhile, the molecular structure of target product was determined by elemental analysis, FTIR, gas-pyrolysis mass spectrometry analysis.In this paper the carbon source of the intumescent flame retardant was respectively synthesized.The raw material of pentaerythritol and TGIC was synthesized into three triazine polyhydoxy carbon as carbon source of the flame retardant. The PT-CA was characterized with the FTIR,elemental analysis and other means.And as the study shows the synthesized PT-CA was the expected product.Then the EAPM was synthesized with optimization ways,and the structure of the target product was characterized with FTIR,NMR and other means.The thermal performance of the product was analysised with TG, and high temperature performance of the PT-CA and EAPM was showed.The synthesized PT-CA,EAPM, APP and MCA was mixtured with certain proportion into the intumescent flame retardant and then blend with PP.The performance of flame retardant PP was determined by vertical combustion,thermal gravimetric analysis and tensile tests.As the result of vertical combustion the good flame retardant performance of PP was showed. And good mechanical retention rate also was showed.With the study of thermal analysis, the good thermal stability and charring properties of intumescnet flame retardant PP material was showed.The thermal oxidation degradation process and flame retardant mechanism was determined by TG-FTIR and SEM.As the research of these type intumescent flame retardant showed, the gas phase conversion speed can be reduced.The phosphorus element of flame retardant can be the dehydrating agent and carbon agent which can play an important role in the condensed phase.Meanwhile, better flame retardant can be coordinated with condensed phase and gas phase. With the method of Kissinger and Flynn-Wall-Ozawa, the intumescent flame retardant thermal degradation kinetic mechanism can be analyzed.As the research showed that the material activation can be significantly impoved through the adding of flame retardant.At the same time the thermal stability of polypropylene can be improved.
