Lanzhou is fortune enough to be a sole city that The Yellow River passes through. The river serves so-called Jincheng Lanzhou main surface water resource, at the same time, offers abundant precious water resource to from the daily life and production of the inhabitants of Lanzhou to the economic development of the city. Unfortunately, strolling along its bank, you can find the beautiful river coast is tainted by lots of disharmonious phenomenon. For example, the covert drain outlet and drainage ditch operate day and night in secret leading to various waste water threats to the mother river. “China’s 13 th plan of five years” is the last period in building a comprehensive well-off society, also a key period in accomplishing a rapid expansion of industrialization, modernization, and urbanization in Gansu province. Nominated as provincial capital of Gansu, Lanzhou is the political, economic center. The Yellow river is the main water resource to the life, so, putting great effort on reinforcing protection to the river and guarantee for safe water is an important long-range mission in Lanzhou, is also the key task to make sure that Gansu can reach comprehensive well-off city. Facing a series of pollution problems, in order to improve the quality of environment, make the city more charming, and ensure a sustainable and healthy economic development, we should introduce scientific-efficiently technology to monitor the water quality parameters of The Yellow River in Lanzhou section.This thesis focuses on several problems existing in the traditional monitoring method to water environment in Lanzhou section of The Yellow River, and comprehensively employs the current advanced ZigBee wireless Sensor Networks, Embedded Technique, GPRS, database technology and the WebGIS technology based on Baidu map API to design a set of widely-covering, intelligent monitoring system that suits for Lanzhou section, and it does not need the guarding of a special person.The system mainly contains following three structures: perception layer, network layer and application layer. The perception layer and network layer are used to on-site collection and information transmission. Combining ZigBee and GPRS makes sure the monitoring data transmit from the close to the distant. The thesis detailed interprets the hardware circuit design of ZigBee wireless Sensor Networks, data collecting module, and gateway node. Gateway node applies STM32 as master control meanwhile GPRS modem based on SIM900 A is designed. GPRS module is designed through SIM900 A, and the related hardware has passed the software programming and simulation testing. Considering to the difficulty in wiring power supply along The Yellow River, the system uses solar power to supply power for the monitoring node. The system application layer integrates the application of computer network technology, SQL Server 2003 database technology and WebGIS technology based on Baidu map API to design the information analysis and sharing system of the water environment monitoring, which realizes the combination of monitoring information and geographic information system, the management and analysis to the monitoring data, and the sharing to the results by web page.The alarm monitoring item can let people and the relevant government departments obtain an intuitive and real-time monitoring, improve the ability of the prediction and prevention of the sudden pollution accidents of water environment of The Yellow River in the Lanzhou section. It realizes an intelligent networked and modern monitoring to the Yellow River in the Lanzhou section.
