A series of CuO/CeO2 catalysts were synthesized by solvothermal method; the structure and related properties of the catalysts were characterized to find out the relationship between the structure and catalytic activity, and the results are as follows.(1) The CuO/CeO2 catalysts were prepared by different methods (impregnation, deposition-precipitation, solvothermal and impregnation-combustion), maintaining the Cu content of 10% and calcination temperature at 450℃ respectively. The experimental results show that the CuO/CeO2 catalyst prepared by solvothermal method has better catalytic activity than the other methods.(2) The CuO/CeO2 catalysts with different Cu contents were prepared by solvothermal method. The results indicate that, when the Cu content is 10%, the CuO/CeO2 catalyst has better activity for CO oxidation. The characterizations of the catalysts were conducted to corelate the structure-activity relationship of the CuO/CeO2 catalyst.(3) The CuO/CeO2 catalysts were prepared by solvothermal method at different calcination temperatures. The results indicate that, when calcined at 450℃, the CuO/CeO2 catalyst has better reducibility, and the best activity for CO oxidation. The appropriate calcination temperature can improve the dispersion of CuO, and it can promote the formation of Cu-O-Ce solid solution, which increases the catalytic activity of CuO/CeO2 catalyst.(4) The CuO/CeO2 catalysts were prepared by solvothermal method from different CeO2. The results indicate that using the CeO2 from the decomposition of cerium nitrate as the carrier, the activity of catalyst is better.(5) A new type of CuO/CeO2 catalyst was prepared by solvothermal method by adding the PVP. Compared with the above solvothermal method, the improved solvothermal method can improve the dispersion of copper species. Therefore, the addition of PVP can increase the activity of the CuO/CeO2 catalyst.
