Centrifugal fan is one of the important fluid transfer equipment. It plays an indispensable role and is almost used in every process of iron and steel smelting, such as main exhauster of sintering, gas dust removal fan of converter and booster fan of electric furnace, etc. The normal production of iron and steel will be greatly affected by the operating conditions of the centrifugal fan. However, recently, only the simple point inspection, simple instrument and single method are implemented for the fan unit equipment in the most steel companies, and the fault of centrifugal fans have more types of faults and becom more complex, which may cause leakage judgment and misjudgment easily. Also it lead the fault diagnosis rate reducing. Therefore, it is of significance in theory and practice to research the operation station and fault diagnosis of centrifugal fan. In this paper, the most common kinds of faults of centrifugal fans are analyzed and researched, such as bearing fault, misalignment,looseness fault and dynamic unbalance.In this paper, the common fault types and fault characteristics of the centrifugal fan of steel plants are introduced. Also, the fault diagnosis of fan are described in detail, including the diagnostic process, principle and method. On the basis of the existing research conditions, and consider the feasibility of the analysis of the actual situation, the RH802 data acquisition system has been used to collect and process sign for abnormal fan. Then, perform off-line analysis and diagnosis. In addition, the time and frequency domain methods including the analysis of waveform, spectral analysis,the analysis of Bode plot and the analysis of axis orbi are applied to analyze the most common kinds of faults of centrifugal fan.Based on the above analysis, the characteristics of the obtained spectra are combined and compared with the failure mechanism of the fans, so as to determine the cause of the vibration of the unit, carry out effective and rapid processing at the scene and solve practical problems. In this paper, fault diagnosis technology has been applied in practice, which makes that the frequency of fan failure is reduced and that productivity has been increased. So there is a certain practical guiding significance to the field diagnosis of fan.
