Excellent gas barrier properties were processed by Clay/Rubber nanocomposites by reason of unique lamellar structure of bentonite. How to achieve nano scale dispersion structure of clay in rubber is the development idea in rubber industry currently. Production of powdered styrene butadiene rubber(PSBR) with high filled clay finished by spray drying method was achieved industrialization in our paper. Then we studied process conditionsFirstly, PSBR was produced by superheated steam spray drying method and the effect of different spray drying methods on the structure and properties of PSBR was explored. The results showed that the superheated steam is easy to form a steam passage on the surface of the material, which is conducive to the evaporation of moisture in the material. The oxygen containing groups were introduced in the rubber molecular chains by hot air drying, which damaged the molecular chain and reduced the molecular weight of rubber. Overall, considering the energy consumption, safety, environmental protection and so on factors, superheated steam spray drying is a good choice in the future.Secondly, SBR was produced by superheated steam spray drying method and the effect of different styrene butadiene rubber latex on the properties of PSBR was developed. The results showed that styrene butadiene produced by Qilu Petrochemical Corporation or Jilin Petrochemical Company both met the experimental requirements. But taking into account the production, transportation and so on issues, Qilu Petrochemical styrene butadiene was more suitable as an industrial raw material.Taking into account the viscosity of clay slurry in the process of industrial production, the effect of different clay ratios on the properties of PSBR was explored. The results showed that Smectite clay and calgon can reduce slurry viscosity and have influence on air tightness of PSBR, which can provide a reference for the future industrialization.The first production line of PSBR was established, and its industrialization was realized. Various problems encountered in the process, such as the selection of isolation agent, the feeding of clay slurry were solved in test phase, and the phenomenon of adhesive wall of PSBR material in the drying tower was improved.
