In recent years, a self-centering drill bit was widely welcomed by the market. The drill with ordinary twist drill bit in the end, added a guide tip making drilling more stable. The current CNC tool grinding machine did't completely realize the automatic mass production of the guide tip. There were still many problems to be solved in the key technologies of the control system, such as motion control, function control and bit angle positioning. Therefore, it was necessary to solve the technical problems.In this paper, the overall scheme of the control system of the Guide Tip Grinding Machine was presented, and the motion control, function control and bit angle positioning were designed in detail. In the aspect of motion control, the four axis CNC and servo element were used to form a semi-closed loop system. Through the design mode of hardware design, parameter configuration, HMI and G code development this part made a complete design. In the functional control, through the I/O signal design, embedded PLC programming, achieved grinding machine functional control requirements, such as electromagnetic valve controlling, angle positioning module controlling, etc. In order to solve the problem of automatic feeding of grinding machine, in the aspect of bit angle positioning, an embedded image positioning method was proposed, which was realized by FPGA platform. Thereinto, the design of the image acquisition and processing algorithm based on HDL Verilog was completed, and the simulation results were verified. Finally, the experimental platform of CNC and angle positioning was built. The accuracy and rationality of motion control and function control design are verified. The feasibility of image positioning scheme is proved by the experiment of angle orientation.Through the research on the key technology of the control system of the guide pointed grinder, it solved some problems of motion control, function control and bit angle positioning. It has very important practical significance for the future application in the automatic production of the tip.
