A considerable increase in the content of natural organic matter(NOM) in water environment is the main cause of organic pollution in drinking water and source water. The humic acids is a major component of NOM,so efficient removal of humic acids is an important part of the solution to organic pollution in the water. At present, in domestic using conventional water treatment process including coagulation, sedimentation and filtration can't effectively remove humic acids. In the stage of chlorination the humic acids in the water forms disinfection by-products(DBPs).So the development of water treatment process is very important thatdeep treatment of humic acids in water.A Pt/biochar electrode reactor was developed to remove humic acid in water. The removal efficiency and characteristics of the reactor were investigated. The conclusion is as follows in this study.1) Experimental results showed that 10.72% obtained 74.58% removal rate after 300 min reaction. The removal rate was increased by 58.3% comparing with the removal rate achieved by Pt/graphite electrode reactor. Electrochemical oxidation(63.86% removal rate)and air floating(10.72% removal rate)played the main roles in removal of humic acid from water in Pt/biochar electrode reactor. Removal of humic acids in the water mainly through electrochemical oxidation in Pt/graphite electrode reactor. The improved removal efficiency of humic acid in Pt/biochar electrode reactor was attributed to the fact of that the biochar cathode could produce more H2O2 than graphite cathode.2) Comparing with the graphite cathode, the biochar cathode could produce more H2O2.Combing with three-dimensional excitation emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy,Gel permeation chromatography measurement and TOC analysis method revealed that Pt/biochar electrode reactor had strong oxidation capacility to humic acids.3) Improving aeration rate can indirectly increase the removal rate of humic acid in the reactor.the low initial pH can improve the reactor for oxidation of the humic acids, but reduce the reactor of the humic acids air flotation. Improving the current density is beneficial to the oxidative removal of humic acids, but reduce the reactor of the humic acids air flotation..4) under inlet flow 0.1 and 0.05L·h-1, humic acids removal rate remained at 40% and 50% respectively, Pt/biochar electrode reactor can achieve a continuous operation mode.
