The NC incremental sheet metal forming process is a flexible forming process. The key technology of this process is the rapid prototyping manufacturing. The sheet metal is formed with the die, because of it, the time for preparing is shorter. With the NC incremental sheet metal forming process, it can reduce the cost for manufacturing when producing a few products, and also producing more kinds of parts with one process. While, there are a lot of problems have been researched, such as the mechanics and strength, surface quality and the fatigue of the forming parts. In this paper, main researches are shown as follow:1. The research of the forming properties and mechanics or strength of the process. Comparing the forming properties and strain states of the stamping process and the incremental sheet metal forming process, it was shown that the SPIF is better than the stamping process. With the experiments of the mechanics and strength of the forming parts in different values of processes, it was shown the relationships of the two aspects.2. The research of the relationships of the SPIF processes and the surface qualities. Through the experiments, it was studied that the relationships between the tool diameter and the surface qualities, the relationships between the length of step and the surface qualities and the relationships of the forming angle and the surface qualities. And it was shown that the surface quality is better with the larger tool diameter, and poorer with the larger step. And it also shown that the roughness is better with the larger forming angle, but the micro hardness is poorer with the larger angle.3. The research of the relationships of the fatigue life and the SPIF processes. Through the experiments, it was shown that the fatigue life is longer with the larger tool diameter, the fatigue life is shorter with the larger step, and the fatigue life is shorter with the larger forming angle.
