Power supply system in coal mining area undertakes the power supply task for the production of underground mining working space, the reliability and safety of the operation of power supply system of the mining area affects the safety production in coal mine directly. It spend a long time to judge and isolate the fault and restore power, when power supply system in coal mining area had a fault, which affects mine normal production seriously, and may cause serious accidents of coal dust and gas explosion. When there is a failure in the coal mine, the coal mine dispatching center will have a large amount of alarm information or fault information.It is hard for the operators to identify the fault components, lock the fault area and restore power supply in a short period of time. So it needs a fast and reliable fault diagnosis method urgently.This paper took a coal mine in a power supply system as the research object, According to the requirements of the power supply system protection configuration in "coal mine safety regulations", combined with the power supply system structure and operation mode, used Petri network as the theoretical basis to research on fault diagnosis method.Firstly, based on the action information of the circuit breaker after the failure, established the Petri model for fault diagnosis, and to research the method of fault diagnosis. Research results show that the fault zone diagnosis method is simple and effective, it can lock the fault area quickly, suitable for the initial diagnosis of the fault.Secondly, proposeda fault element diagnosis method based on logical relation Petri net, analyzed of fault diagnosis model of the main electrical components in the power supply system, bus line and transformer etc. Research results show that the fault element diagnosis method based on logical relation Petri net can accurate diagnosis.Finally, endowed the Petri net theory with the specific physical meaning of the transition elements, establishes an improved Petri net model for fault component diagnosis, studied the basic principle of fault diagnosis method for Petri network, and modeled and analyzed the whole power supply system. Research results show that the fault diagnosis method of the improved Petri net has special physical meaning and is very universal, which has a fast calculation speed and a clear diagnosis conclusion, and suit for Online diagnosis for power supply system.
