A Study On The 30 Years History Of The Female Clothing Since The Founding Of New China(1949-1978)

From the perspective of sociology of body, this paper chooses the period from 1949 to 1978 after the founding of New China. It analyzes how women’s body and clothing are discussed and disciplined in the new political context, and the relationship about the clothing with body, gender, identity, even political power and other issues.In this paper, the literature research method is used to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze the collected data. At the same time, it applies the theories of body sociology, feminine science and clothing aesthetics to summarize the mutual relations of female body image and clothing appearance in the past 30 years after the founding of New China.From the mid-1950 s to the eve of the "Cultural Revolution", the body image of women in New China was influenced by proletarian aesthetics. With labor as the beauty, clothing was also given more revolutionary color and practical style.During the "Cultural Revolution",women shaped by the fate of the times and social reality express the "feminization" of the body image. The majority of women in the dress express their ideology of social identity.From the end of the "Cultural Revolution" until the end of 1978, women’s bodies and their dress began to return to the pursuit to the "health and beauty".
