Tailing pond is one of the three control projects of mine,which is constituted by damming a valley mouth or enclosure.China is a multi-mine mining country,tailings project not only quantity,but also widely distributed,but most of them are the less stable upstream method dam,resulting in tailings frequent accidents.The safety of the tailings are relating the property and lives safety of the people,So the stability of the tailing pond and reinforcement measures of the research is urgent and necessary.On the basis of summarizing the domestic and foreign scholars' related research literatures,with the "XinGan XinHeng Mine tailings dam" as engineering background.The research was carried out by means of field investigation,experiment,numerical simulation and theoretical analysis.This paper provides theoretical and technical support for the selection of reinforcement measures and the stability calculation for tailings dam,and obtained the following conclusions.(1)On the analysis of domestic and overseas scholars' research for high-stacked and fine-grained tailings dam,a new concept of high-stacked and fine-grained tailings dam reservoir is proposed.The height of the tailings dam more than 60m,and the size of tailing sand between 0.25mm and 0.075mm accounted for more than 50%of the total mass of sand particles,which used in constructing the dam or discharging into the tailing pond,we call it high-stacked and fine-grained tailings pond.(2)The various methods of stability calculation of tailing dam are introduced,analyzed and compared,such as geological analysis and engineering analogism method of qualitative analysis,limit equilibrium method and finite element method of quantitative analysis of high rock slope.Finally,the method of geological analysis of qualitative analysis and the finite element analysis of quantitative evaluation are chosen.(3)Using GTS NX MIDAS software to carry on the numerical simulation of tailing dam in normal and flood working condition.Results show that the tailing dam is in the limit equilibrium state under normal operating conditions,and the phreatic line is increased enormously in flood,It caused the tailing dam-break.(4)After introducing and analyzing and comparing the various drainage measures and reinforcement measures for tailings dam.The results proved that the radiation well is he most effective reinforcement measures.By observing the position of the infiltration line and using MIDAS GTS NX to simulate the numerical simulation,it shows that radiation well is very useful in reducing the infiltration line,it's also suitable for stable and strong dam.
