A Study Of Chinese Modern Fashion Designer’s Fashion Illustration And Design Style

Based on the historical background of modern "changes of costume” and the development of modern garment industry, this paper uses the fashion illustrations drawn by the costume designers as links. After combing and integrating a large number of images and text materials, this paper mainly analyses the design style of modern costume designers.First of all, after sorting out the data, I select the typical and representative costume designers in each period of modern times, and further analyze their life experiences, professional achievements, representative works, painting techniques, design concepts and design styles, and sum up each designer’s personal characteristics.Secondly, in order to elaborate the costume sketches drawn by the designers, I conclude the reasons for the appearance of modern fashion illustration is the trend of modern western-style clothing, the development of the media and the introduction of western painting techniques, after analyzing from the social background, the classification and the main techniques.According to the different styles and functions of the illustration, I divided fashion illustrations into four types: costume design drawing, costume cartoon, costume poster and costume illustration, and summarize the techniques used in modern fashion illustration into four parts which are line drawing, sketch drawing, watercolor painting and pastel. What’s more, I analyze the representative works of these techniques in detail.Thirdly, on the basis of the results of two parts above, I analyze the design style of Chinese modern costume designer, and sum up the three styles of Chinese style, western style and Chinese and western style according to the present situation and national elements. Then I summarize the characteristics of the times, representative style and representative designers, and compare the same style of representative designers to extract the commonality of the personality.After that, I summarize the design concept of modern costume designers are paying attention to physical health, economy and practicality and being concise and beautiful.At last, I sum up the influencing factors of modern Chinese fashion designers’ style, and point out that the social influence of western fashion style, women’s independence, fashion and individual freedom has formed a harmonious relationship with natural beauty, curvilinear beauty, healthy beauty and individual beauty, which is the fundamental influence of modern fashion designer’s design style.This paper mainly analyze that the modern fashion designers publish the design work through the periodical magazine, spread their design ideas by fashion illustrations and they also introduce the western clothing culture and spread the popular information. And these designers have the combining style of eastern and western. Their design activities have become the basis and guidance of "changes of costume ", which promote the development of the fashion industry and create an active era of clothing. Through the analysis of modern clothing designer’s style, contribution to the modern garment industry and the successful practice of costume, I am able to grasp the rule of development of costume and learn from the modern design style, which can improve the development of garment industry. Therefore they are the significances of this research.
