In recent years, the Pickering emulsion which was synthesized by using a new type of inorganic nano materials as a stabilizing agent, aroused people's great attention and concern. Comparing to traditional emulsion, Pickering emulsion has the advantage of high stability and low VOC emissions. In industry, nano silicon dioxide particles which are inorganic solid mineral material,are rich content in the earth's crust after oxygen. It is one of the relatively cheap and environmentally friendly mineral resources. At present, the potential applications of the technology of emulsification and demulsification don't have very good development and utilization where researchers use the inorganic nano materials, especially the applied research of the synthesis of coatings emulsion used in architectural is still in its infancy. How to effectively use inorganic nano materials rather than using organic surfactant prepares low VOC emission, high performance and environmentally friendly Pickering emulsion will be the important and interesting topics for a lot of scientific research workers.In this paper, two Pickering emulsions were synthesized by using methyl methacrylate (MMA), butyl acrylate, methacrylic acid, methyl acrylamide as main monomers, respectively using nano silica sol, nanometer silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide hybrid sol as a stabilizer.And they also use benzoyl peroxide (BPO) or azo isobutyl cyanide (AIBN) as initiator. In order to optimize the synthetic scheme for the preparation of acrylic resin, many performance index is studied, such as the reaction temperature, reaction time, ratio of soft monomer and hard monomer,the mass ratio of titanium and silicon. The research results show that the reaction temperature should control in70 to 80? and that the reaction time is 2 h can not only make smooth and easy to control, but also synthesize suitable viscosity resins. When the ratio of soft monomer and hard monomer is 3:1; the colloidal silica content is 30% and the mass ratio of titanium and silicon is 1:50;the synthesis of Pickering emulsion are uniformly stable performance, small particle size, narrow distribution and higher zeta potential. Secondly, This paper will also blend the excellent characters of homemade Pickering emulsion and traditional latex blending for modification to explore the difference performance of them. The results showed that many properties of Pickering emulsion are better and when the mass ratio of Pickering emulsion and pure acrylic emulsion is 1:3, the blending emulsion has the best performance. And using the means of infrared spectra, thermogravimetric analysis and particle sizer to characterize the two emulsion.Using the Pickering emulsion and traditional emulsion as main film forming material this paper synthesized emulsion paint A and B, then the water resistance, alkali resistance and washing resistance were tested. The test results show that the latex paint A which was synthesized by using Pickering emulsion as main film forming material has better performance, and is nearly similar with the national standard requirements.
