In the foundry industry, about 80 percent of the castings are sand casting production, which occupies an important position in the Chinese foundry industry. With the improvement of the requirements of casting industry quality and the use of resin sand, applying a coating on the sand cavity surface is a cost-effective way to improve the quality of castings, so that the casting coating applied more widely. However, domestic and foreign enterprises do not have an effective casting paint performance testing equipment, particularly in high-temperature performance test methods and instruments, which is not conducive to the development of foundry industry. Therefore, based on the use of sand casting coatings, I have developed a resin sand coating performance tester, to test the high temperature performance of resin sand surface coatings.According to the process features and performance requirements of sand casting coating, for the first time, the testing equipment can test three performance of resin sand casting coating, which are high-temperature permeability, high temperature strength and thermal shock cracking. Two test samples have been designed, one sample is used to test the hightemperature permeability and high temperature strength, another one is used to be observed in high-temperature environment.The testing equipment is designed by an upper and lower machine way, MCU and temperature controller are lower machine while the computer is upper machine. Visual Studio 2013 is selected as the software programming environment. C # language is selected as programming language of the testing equipment. HMI is user-friendly and intuitive. Two steps have been designed:(1)The sample is used to test the high-temperature permeability and high temperature strength, MCU collects the gas pressure in the pressure sensor, and the data is transmitted to computer for analysis and processing to get a value and time-pressure curve.(2) A camera records the process of a sample in a high temperature furnace, it captures images of the cracking and sintering process of the sample for high temperature paint crack resistance analysis.At last, the testing equipment were tested, the result shows that the testing equipment is able to test the high-temperature permeability and high temperature strength steadily. The camera can capture clear pictures, showing the change process of the sample at high temperatures. Anticipated results have been achieved.
