Media Construction Of Food Safety Risk

Food safety is the focus issue people widespread concerned in recent years,mass media reporting food safety problem,plays the role of supervision,agenda setting,and definition,to a certain extent,promoted the governance practices of food safety issue.This paper,take Guangming Daily and Beijing News as the study object,with related reports from January 1,2013 to January 1,2016 about food safety problem as research samples,trying to compare and analysis how the mainstream media build food safety risk issues. This article focuses on the construction of the food safety risks in the two papers,placing extra emphasis on describing the framework of food safety risk issues,attribution framework and responsibility framework,to analysis definition and power relations in risk of different risk body,analysis deep reasons for these differences,by contrasting media frames of two media.The study found, the overall features of construction of food safety risks in Guangming Daily and the Beijing News is that "similarity is greater than the differences",the production of media risk information tends to be homogeneous,two newspapers of food safety risk,emerged socialization characteristics of risk definition,which the risk discourse construction depended on political pathway,the frame of risk reflection was selected marginally,experts take part aphasia strategy in the risk frame of attribution and liability, but there are also some differences in the selection and identification of information sources and identification of risk liability objects in two samples.The construction and communication of risk in mainstream media is firmly delineated in the "System" range,so media campaigns was mostly in propaganda mode,because of the influence of political factors. This paper argues that the different framework strategy the two media applied are the results of the power struggle. The article suggests that mass media,as the mediation platform and independent actor among the construction of risk,needs to exert its initiative to improve the effectiveness of riskcommunication by some scientific ways.
