Graphene, owing to its unique structure and fantastic properties, has attracted a lot of attention since it was found by Geim. But for its practical application, it is very necessary to solve its synthesis problem firstly. In order to realize the high-yield production of high-quality few-layer graphene in low-cost, here, we report a “ICl intercaltion- H2O2expansion- exfoliation” method to prepare graphene. The main work was carried out as following:(1) Firstly,we prepared expanded graphite(EG-1) by ICl intercalation followed by H2O2 expansion, and explored the morphology of expanded graphite which prepared by different pristine graphite and different intercalation conditions. Then, the structure of the obtained EG-1 was characterized, and the the results indicated that the intercalation and expansion process barely reduce the quality of carbon layers.(2) To improve the expansion of product, we used EG-1 as the starting material followed by KOH activation, ICl intercalation and H2O2 expansion. The obtained expanded graphite(EG-2) has a better expansion degree, and it is easier to disperse in the solvent than EG-1. The obtained graphene has high quality, and the concentration of graphene dispersion reached 0.54 mg/ml after sonicating for 2 h. Lastly, the electrochemical performance of graphene was tested by using three-electrode system, and found that the prepared graphene has good rate capability and cycling stability.
