China has an enormous urban population and the large capacity of industry, which results in the increasing sludge production from urban domestic and industrial activities year by year. With the promotion of energy saving and environmental protection, China is facing the problem of sludge treatment and disposal. As the drawbacks of the traditional landfill method are becoming increasingly apparent, sludge incineration method is gradually being concerned. The co-combustion of sludge and coal in the existing coal-fired boiler is one of the promising ways for sludge treatment has the advantages of fast processing speed, large mass reduction ratio and also calorie recovery. Thus, it is very important to research on the technologies of co-combustion of sludge with coal.A bituminous coal for the coal-fired power plant, a domestic sewage sludge and an industrial sludge were selected in this work. Two groups of blending containing domestic sewage sludge or industrial sludge in the ratio of 10%, 30%, 50%, 70% were manufactured. Analyze these two groups of blending by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) to study the influences of the different sludge ratio on the combustion characteristics and dynamic characteristics of the co-combustion of sludge with coal. Analyze the blending contained 10% of sludge with TGA under different heating rates(5,10,20,35?/min), to study the influences of different heating rates on combustion characteristics and dynamic characteristics of cocombustion. Finally, study the influences of the phosphorus in sludge on combustion characteristics and dynamic characteristics of co-combustion by the way of loading phosphorus to the bituminous coal.The results showed that the combustion characteristics of bituminous coal were better than that of the two kinds of sludge but bituminous coal's activation energy was higher than that of the two kinds of sludge. With the increasing ratio of sludge, the combustion characteristics of two groups of blending were gradually becoming worse, and the activation energy of them was gradually reducing. With the increase of heating rate, the combustion characteristics of two groups of blending were gradually becoming better, therefore, increasing heating rate appropriately within <35?/min can be used to obtain better co-combustion characteristics. The domestic sewage sludge had better combustion characteristics and dynamic characteristics than that of industrial sludge, simultaneously, the synergistic effect of domestic sewage sludge and bituminous coal was more significant, therefore, the blending contained domestic sewage sludge had better combustion characteristics and lower activation energy, and the improvement of combustion characteristics and dynamic characteristics of it was more significant. Solution-loading processing can effectively improve the combustion characteristics of bituminous coal, and reduce the activation energy of bituminous coal. However after loading phosphorus, the combustion characteristics of the samples were deteriorated obviously. The combustion characteristics of coal, loaded 5%P, were worse as sludge. Especially, as the phosphorus loading ratio increased, the effect of deterioration was increased.
