Garment simulation has always been a hot topic in computer graphics.Especially simulation of knitted garments is gaining more and more attention.Because of complexity,the geometric structure of knitted garments requires a lot of details,which reduces the efficiency of simulating knitted garments.So how to model and simulate knitted garments efficiently is an interesting research topic.Knitted garments modeling and simulation had been studied in the paper.First of all,according to yarn model and the real geometric structure of knitted garments,a loop structure named stitch mesh was proposed,which was used to describe the basic geometric structure of knitted garments.In order to conveniently model and simulate,the original triangular mesh was converted into quadrilateral mesh with anti-paving method and edge collapse method.Then 3D knitted garmente was created according to the loop structure and quadrilateral mesh.Because of the 3D yarn model's particularity,a force model was designed according to Gabriel's force model.Then based on Kaldor's model,a collision detection model to simulate knitted garments was implemented.In order to improve detection efficiency,contact detection was used in the collision detection model.At last,an improved particle system with 3-layers was developed to simulate knitted garments.All of these were implemented in our research projects' group's software.A good effect was shown in practice.
