| The cotton fabric is widely loved by people because of its permeability and comfort,but it has a poor health performance.Thus,antibacterial agents for fabric have become one of the hot spots in the textile research field.In this study,nano-ZnO was modified by doping and deposition,and then the modified nano ZnO was copolymerized with quaternary ammonium salt to prepared polymer based modified nano ZnO composites.The synergistic effect of modified nano ZnO and N+ was used to impart the cotton fabric with broad spectrum antimicrobial and anti-mildew property.The long acting antibacterial and anti-mildew of cotton fabric was achieved by chemical bonding between epoxy group in polymer and hydroxyl group from cotton fiber.Ce doped nano ZnO(Ce-ZnO)and Ag deposited nano ZnO(Ag/ZnO)were prepared by co-precipitation method.The effects of zinc dosage and modifier dosage on the preparation of modified nano ZnO were investigated with UV-visible absorbance as an index.The modified nano ZnO was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The antibacterial property(against S.aureus,E.coli,C.albicans),anti-mildew property,UV protection property,physical and mechanical properties of fabrics treated with Ce-ZnO and Ag/ZnO were investigated respectively.The modified nano ZnO was double bonded with silane coupling agent KH-570,and polymerization with dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride and allyl glycidyl ether to prepared polymer based Ce doped ZnO nanocomposites(P(DMDAAC-AGE)/(Ce-ZnO))and polymer based Ag deposited ZnO nanocomposites(P(DMDAAC-AGE)/Ag/ZnO).The effects of modified ZnO amount and pH value were investigated using stability,rotational viscosity and conversion rate as the indexes.The composites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR),XRD and TEM.The composites were treated on the cotton fabric.The antibacterial property and anti-mildew property,washing fastness,UV protection of cotton fabric were investigated.The Ce-ZnO nanomaterials have a better UV-Vis absorption property when the doping amount of Ce was 2.5%.The XRD result indicated that Ce doped into the lattice of nano ZnO.The TEM showed that the size of ZnO nanorods decreased and then increased with the increase of doping amount.When the doping amount was 2.5%,the size of Ce-ZnO rod was about 180 nm in length and 40 nm in diameter.Compare to the cotton fabric treated with nano ZnO,the fabric treated with Ce-ZnO has a better antibacterial performance against S.aureus and C.albicans,when the doping amount was 2.5%,the antibacterial rate were 87.9% and 84.85% respectively.But the antibacterial rate against E.coli was decreased.The P(DMDAAC-AGE)/(Ce-ZnO)composite has a better stability when the pH was 3.5 and the amount of Ce-ZnO was 0.8%.The application results showed that the antibacterial rate of cotton fabric can reach to more than 99.3% when the concentration of composites was 30g/L,and the antibacterial rate can still get to 99.1% after 11 times(equivalent to home washing 55 times)standard washing.The composite has endowed the cotton fabric with great and long-acting antibacterial property and UV protection property,but basically no anti-mildew performance.Ag/ZnO has a better UV-Vis absorption when the deposition amount of Ag was 1.5%.TEM showed that the sphere like nano silver with a diameter about 15 nm was deposited on the surface of rod shaped nano ZnO.The size of ZnO was 150~180 nm in length and 20~40 nm in diameter.When the deposition amount of Ag was 3.0%,the antibacterial rates of cotton fabric treated with Ag/ZnO against S.aureus,E.coli,C.albicans were 91.45%,95.6% and 98.15%,the anti-mildew level was reach to level one.The P(DMDAAC-AGE)/Ag/ZnO composite has a better stability when the pH was 3.5 and amount of Ag/ZnO was 1.0%.The results showed that the antibacterial of cotton fabric was more than 99.5% when the concentration of composites was 30g/L,and the antibacterial rate of cotton fabric can still achieve more than 93.5% after 11 times(equivalent to home washing 55 times)standard washing.The anti-mildew level of cotton fabric treated with the composite was level one and can be maintained for 3 days.After 11 times washing,the anti-mildew level of treated fabric was improve to level zero and can be maintained for 7 days.Moreover,the cotton fabric has good UV protection property. |
