Application Of Process Simulation In Capacity Expansion Revamping Of Chinacoal Yulin Methanol Synthesis Unit

The principle of process simulation is to describe and represent complex process prototypes by using mathematical models.Process simulation technology is a common tool for chemical engineers in process development,engineering design and production optimization.Chinacoal Yulin 600 thousand t/a coal to olefins project takes Davy 1800 thousand t/a large-scale methanol synthesis process to produce methanol.Due to the coal gasification unit adding a new gasification gasifier,there is 20%surplus of water gas production capacity.The enterprise plans to carry out capacity expansion revamp of methanol unit.In this paper,Aspen Plus process simulation software is used to design and simulate capacity expansion revamp of methanol synthesis unit.The main work is as follows:1.In this paper methanol synthesis system simulation is used by Aspen Plus software.The author analyzes process structure of methanol unit by use of technological data.2.Two sets of capacity expansion revamp plans are designed and simulated by process simulation.According to simulation result,the lower energy consumption plan is selected.3.It is carried out calculation and selection of the existing process equipment by process simulation.The revamp plan is put forward,including reforming the methanol converter,replacing the catalyst,increasing the air cooling and adding a compressor.4.The designed revamping plan of methanol unit achieved 6600t/d methanol capacity.The system comprehensive energy consumption is 36.9GJ/t methanol after transformation.The author provides reference opinions and technical support for the revamping of methanol plant by using process simulation.Some suggestions for further work are given.
