Metamaterials are artificially composite structural materials with special electromagnetic properties that are not available in conventional media materials,including electrically negative materials, magneto-negative materials, and double-negative materials. Left hand material is most important, electromagnetic waves in which the transmission, E, H, K into the left hand spiral relationship, the dielectric constant and permeability are less than 0. As the group velocity and the phase velocity are opposite, the left-handed material has many singular properties, such as negative refraction, reversal Snell's law, reversal Terentkov radiation, reversal Doppler shift, etc.,so the left-hand material design research caused the scientific community Widespread concern, has become one of the hot spots.In classical physics, the dielectric constant and permeability of matter are caused by microscopic particles and electrons. In the design of the left-handed material, according to the effective medium theory, when the unit size of the artificial design is much smaller than the wavelength of the electromagnetic wave, the element structure can be used instead of the atomic structure of the composite structure, and different electromagnetic properties can be realized by designing different unit structures.This paper introduces the basic knowledge of left-handed materials, special electromagnetic properties and research status. Secondly, the paper introduces the equivalent media theory and the left / right hand transmission line theory, which are commonly used in left-handed material design, and provide the basic methods and ideas for the design of left-handed materials. The main work of this paper is to design two kinds of left - handed materials by CST electromagnetic software simulation, and the S -parameter inversion method is used to test the left - hand characteristics. The first left -handed material is composed of SrTi03 spherical shell and metal wire array with dielectric constant ? = 341, and the equivalent permittivity and equivalent permeability are less than 0 in the range of 15.15-16.22GHz. The second type of left-handed material is made of artificial ceramics (BST), and the unit structure is three rings that are perpendicular to each other. The simulation results show that the left-hand characteristic is between 11.1 and 11.3 GHz, and then the left-hand And the influence of structural parameters on the electromagnetic properties is analyzed.
