The parallel factor analysis(PARAFAC)and differential UV absorption were used to characterize the dissolved organic matter of fulvic acid in the catalytic oxidation treatment. There were three fluorescent components in fulvic acid.Component 1 was fulvic-like substances, component 2 was humic—like substances and component 3 was protein—like substances. To explore the advantages and disadvantages of catalytic oxidation reaction systems in which hydrogen peroxide or ozone as oxidant, iron ion or aluminum ions as catalyst.Compared the results of four kinds of catalytic oxidation reaction. The results showed that: the advantage of catalytic ozonation was THMs mineralization effect, degradation capability of organic macromolecular structure;Hydrogen peroxide oxidation were weaker than ozonation in the ability of THMs(three halogenated methane)mineralization ability and macromolecular degradation.Iron catalyzed Hydrogen peroxide oxidation was stronger than aluminum ion catalyzed Hydrogen peroxide in the removal of THMs.When the concentration of oxidant(0.2mmol·L-1)was large, ferric ion catalytic ozonation and catalytic ozonation of aluminum ion could degrade the fluorescent substances almost completely, especially the fluorescent substances of proteins;when the concentration of oxidant is small, the degree of degradation of the fluorescent substance could be ranked like this: protein > fulvic acid ~ type humic acid. And each fluorescent peaks blue shifted in the oxidation process, the results indicated that catalytic oxidation could remove NOM molecular selectively which was more than average molecular weight, and reduce the number of the carboxyl and amino groups. The results of the UV-Vis spectra showed that the catalytic hydrogen peroxide oxidation and catalytic ozonation had different effects in fulvic acids.
