With the development of modern industry,people on the rolling speed and quality of steel put forward higher requirements.Conventional cast iron rolls contain higher chrome-nickel elements,its performance can not meet the new production needs.This requires the development of new roller material to extend the roller life.In the early twentieth century,high-speed steel as a new type of roll material,with high service life,red hardness and wear resistance is the most promising material of the hot roll.However,the composition and process of high-speed steel roll are complex and difficult to obtain stable performance,such as composition segregation,fatigue crack,low fracture toughness,poor resistance to accidents and difficult machining.Firstly,by analyzing and comparing the key technology of high speed steel roll manufacturing,the content of the alloying elements is designed scientifically and the segregation degree of the roll is greatly improved by niobium vanadium complex,limiting the addition of segregation elements tungsten,molybdenum.Then,centrifugal composite manufacturing method is used and the casting and heat treatment process parameters is optimized,to avoid deterioration of the core structure,enhance the roll of the bond layer and roll core strength and enhance the comprehensive mechanical properties.Finally,machining efficiency is improved by selecting cutting tools,optimizing cutting parameters and using CAXA computer aided design.Through the onsite inspection,the comprehensive mechanical properties of the roll are good,the roll structure is uniform.The fracture toughness is higher,the hot cracking resistance is better.The anti-accident performance is improved comprehensively,and the roll performance reached the domestic advanced level.In this paper,combined with field practice,the reaserch is done from the aspects incluing the high-speed steel casting,heat treatment and machining,and covers the whole process of high-speed steel roll preparation.It not only has a good guiding role in on-site production,but also provides accurate reference for future technology research work.
