Coordination complexes with novel topologies,variety of structures have potential applieations in fluorescence,magnetism,catalysis,medicine material.Benzimidazole can introduce different kinds of substituents and spacers,which has become preferred ligand to synthesis complexes in many laboratories.2-substituted methyl benzimidazole has important medical value based on its excellent biological activity;5,6-substituted methyl benzimidazole as an important benzimidazole is also the precursor of VB12 derivatives.Therefore,the synthesis and functions of substituted methyl benzimidazole ligands have focused more attention.Eight kinds of substituted benzimidazole ligands were designed and synthesized.Then ten new complexes have been constructed.Complex 1 is a 3D three-fold interpenetrating dia framework.2,5,6 and 7 all show 2D(4,4)grid with different length,which attribute to the different flexibility of liands.3 is a 1D ladder-like chain.4 is a 3D(3,4)-connected network with fsh topology structure.8 features a 2D uninodal hcb topology structure.9 is a 1D helical chain.10 possesses a 2D binodal(3,5)-connected 3,5L2 topology structure.All the complexes show high thermal stability and fluorescence properties.In addition,they also show certain catalytic activities in the Fenton-like decomposition of Congo red,especially,the degradation efficiencies of 2,7,8 were over 90%.
