Chu furniture is a furniture form which has obviously characteristic of Chu culture,growing maturer with the emergence and development of Chu culture.It experienced from ceramic furniture to copper furniture and then to the evolution of lacquer furniture.In the history of the development of Chinese classical furniture,there are four most important forms of furniture,namely: design style of Chu-style furniture(Zhou Dynasty to the Northern and Southern Dynasties),Song furniture(Sui and Tang dynasties and early Ming Dynasty),Ming-style furniture To the early Qing Dynasty)and Qing-style furniture(after the middle of the Qing),the first is the Chu-style furniture,and the best to reflect the style of Chu-style furniture design is none other than furniture of Chu lacquered wood.It shows the features of Chu culture incisively and vividly:Romantic and elegant,magnificent,believing in red and Witchcraft.In present furniture design,there has been in-depth study in many respects of the use of Chu cultural elements,to apply the Chu culture elements to the products,packaging,signs.However,research in the application to the modern furniture design and the separate study of traditional Chu furniture style is scarce.The purpose of this article is to further research in art elements of Chu culture of Chu lacquered wood furniture,from aspects of the cultural connotation,customs,modeling,color,decoration,technology,etc.Based on the analysis of the artistic elements of the Chu art,this paper analyzes the artistic elements of the Chu art from the classical art design of the classical furniture,combines the artistic elements of the Chu culture with the decorative styling in the modern furniture design,the use of the color,the traditional craft of the Chu furniture,fills in a part of blank by providing a theoretical basis for the study of Chu culture elements in modern furniture design.
