| This thesis mainly studies ideas on diet and health in different periods of time in American history.The main focus is on four books,namely Vegetable Diet: As Sanctioned by Medical Men and by Experience in All Ages written by William Andrus Alcott,Good Health and How We Won it by Upton Sinclair and T.Colin Campbell’s books The China Study and Whole.This study makes a comparison of the ideas and thoughts on diet and health put forward in these works from the perspective of history in order to know the evolution of ideas and thoughts on diet and health in America.By analyzing the similarities and differences in ideas on diet and health,we can better understand the relationship between diet and health.The thesis concludes that American understanding of diet and health has become deeper,more comprehensive,and more persuasive.With the help of this historical analysis,people can better understand the evolution of American thoughts on diet and health. |
